We're Keeping an "Eye" Out for the Best Brass & Percussion Musicians

"The Stan" here, letting you know we're looking for the top brass & percussion musicians in the L.A. area who don't mind working for free (at least for a while) just for the chance to play extremely challenging music with other top musicians in the area!

I know that can be a hard sell sometimes, but the thing is, music is a joy. And even though we're on an ultra-low budget here, it's all about the joy of playing that motivates the regulars of the L.A. Metro Brass.

There is no joy like playing in a damn good band, and knowing you're in a damn good band and not giving damn that you're not being paid a damn thing!

Believe me...I know what it's like being a starving musician. I know what it's like to be unappreciated and underpaid...or not paid at all. But I'm putting all my spare time (and spare cash--what little there is) to getting this band up off the ground simply for the joy of music. And nothing more.

I simply want to hear a kick-ass brass band here in L.A. And I want to see that band grow from obscurity into one of the top brass bands in the nation...even the world! It's all about the glory, my friend.

So if you're a kick-ass brass or percussion musician who wants to play in a kick-ass band, then get your ass over to our auditions on Sept. 8 & 9.

Go to www.LAMetroBrass.com/auditions.html for the scoop on auditioning for the band.

I hope to see you there!

L.A. Metro on MySpace

Everybody's doing it. Well...almost everybody. So we decided we needed a MySpace profile for the band.

If you're a MySpace addict like some of us are, then I invite you to check it out and add us as a friend.

We'll have some music on the site to liven it up a bit once we've done our recording session in September.

Here's the link: www.myspace.com/LAMetroBrass

Seeking Excellent Brass & Percussion Musicians

The L.A. Metro Brass is seeking the best brass & percussion musicians possible. If you're a skilled musician and are excited at the thought of performing extremely challenging and diverse literature for an appreciative crowd, then we welcome you to audition for the band.

At the moment, we are still securing commitments from the best of our previous members, and will be announcing the open positions shortly. However, we are auditioning for every section because we need both regular members and stand-by substitutes. Even sitting in for a rehearsal is a fun and challenging experience that will test your sight-reading skills to the max!

Complete audition information and audition excerpts can be found on our website at www.LAMetroBrass.com/auditions.html.

The L.A. Metro Blog Is Born!

Well, here it is, brass band lovers:

The first blog devoted to the L.A. Metropolitan Brass Band. To keep up to date with the latest happenings and to be sure you never miss some important developments, we invite you to subscribe to this blog. Also, be sure to hop on over to the official site over at www.LAMetroBrass.com and sign up for our notification list!

We're on the verge of releasing an exciting and eventful fall schedule, so you won't want to miss out on something important.

At the moment, we're making the necessary phone calls and preparing for auditions for the inevitable holes we'll have to fill.

We believe we've secured an excellent venue for two full length concerts, and as soon as we're locked in, you'll know about it first right here!

In the photo above, it's your's truly--Aaron "Stan the Man" Stanley--over at the Personnel Manager's (Abel Rios) place, predicting the future of the L.A. Metro Brass. I see nothing but "effervescent glory!" (Which may have had to do with all the tiny little bubbles inside my crystal sphere!)

But I invite you to attend one of our "effervescent" concerts. The energy of 30 collective brass & percussion musicians--all of them more than capable--is something that must be experienced rather than told. I promise you won't regret it!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you'll come back often. And hopefully I'll be seeing you at a future L.A. Metro concert!
